As we enter 2025, office design trends are shifting to meet the needs of a dynamic workforce. Key trends include flexible workspaces and sustainable design. CLS has, ahead of the curve, incorporated these trends into a variety of their buildings across the UK, Germany and France. CLS are continuing to add more to our portfolio to contribute to the evolving landscape of workspaces. Read on to learn more about these trends and how our buildings are shaping the future of work environments.
Colour Psychology & Aesthetics
Workplace colour psychology is a key tool for interior designers when helping create inviting, comfortable, and positive environments. The right office colours reduce stress, boost productivity, and improve focus, making spaces more enjoyable and effective for employees.
Yellow symbolises happiness, positivity, and optimism, fostering creativity, motivation, and collaboration. This subtle vibrant hue is strategically incorporated in the Hansalle building in Düsseldorf, where it brightens the community breakout rooms, creating an environment that inspires teamwork and innovation.
Green, known for its association with balance, creativity, and productivity, is an ideal colour for office spaces, promoting a calm and focused atmosphere. Light pink, with its soothing and nurturing qualities, cultivates collaboration and reduces tension making it a perfect colour for a soothing atmosphere as seen in the lounge at our property in Uxbridge, Harman House. While dark green enhances stability and sharpens focus, driving productivity; together, these colours create a harmonious and motivating environment. The recent refurbishment of Artesian by CLS beautifully showcases this blend within its 91,000 sq ft premium office space, offering a modern, supportive workspace designed to inspire.
Biophilic Design
Biophilic design is the concept of of integrating elements of nature into indoor spaces, such as adding potted plants and maximising natural light and fresh air in particular environments. In an office, biophilic design can enhance employee well-being, increase productivity, and reduce stress levels. In a study, the impact of green plants, an important element of biophilic design, on users’ physiological, psychological, and productive performance was examined. It was found that the presence of green plants at the optimal level, which was determined to be 12 %, had a positive effect on users’ performance. Several CLS offices across the UK, Germany and France have adopted this design concept, most notably in the Harman House office building in Uxbridge and Rhone Alpes, an office building in Lyon, France. Hybrid Working Spaces
The idea behind hybrid work spaces in the office is to provide the best of both worlds for workers and employers. Offices now seek to include flexibility and freedom within the work place, this can be achieved through implementing separate eat-in kitchens, private video booths and tastefully designed business meeting rooms. This allows for employees to work within a relaxing atmosphere and separate their work tasks from moments of rest or personal interaction. By offering dedicated spaces for different activities, such as collaborative meeting areas, quiet zones for focused tasks, and lounges for informal conversations, offices can foster a balance between productivity and relaxation. Such flexibility encourages creativity, enhances employee well-being, and promotes a sense of autonomy, making the workplace more adaptable to individual preferences and working styles. CLS’s new office space in Vauxhall, London, The Coade offers a communal roof terrace for the summer months, adding an additional space for co-workers to take a break or host informal meetings. L.L.Bean conducted a survey in 2018 titled ‘Work and the Outdoors’ which showed that 82% of their workers desired outdoor office space, to improve their mental well-being.
Sustainability & Eco-Friendly Practices
In 2025, implementing eco-friendly practices and ensuring there is a key focus on sustainability in your work space is a clear choice.
Implementing measures like photovoltaic (PV) solar panels, electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, and bike storage not only reduces a company’s carbon footprint but also provides long-term cost savings. Solar panels can lower energy bills, while EV charging stations attract environmentally conscious employees, and bike storage promotes healthier commuting options.
These green initiatives enhance corporate social responsibility, boosting brand reputation and employee satisfaction. Additionally, they support health and well-being by encouraging physical activity and improving workplace conditions with natural light and better air quality. As sustainability regulations tighten, adopting these practices ensures compliance and future-proofs businesses. To find out more about sustainability at CLS, explore here.
